Finishers and Coatings

Weserland produces finishes and coatings with aqueous polymer dispersions that are functionalized with additives such as flame retardants. Particularly high fire protection requirements are placed onto floor coverings or upholstery fabrics (technical textiles) in aircrafts, ships, trains, cars and public buildings.

Agents / Auxiliaries

Weserland develops supplementary auxiliaries and special products that are needed for formulation. The extensive portfolio includes foam auxiliaries and stabilisers (Slipol), wetting agents and defoamers (Supronil), thickeners (Wesopret) and gelling agents for latex (Suprogel).

A trusting relationship plays a major role in contract manufacturing – more so than in normal business relationships. Because in the process, customers reveal their own solutions. The corresponding knowledge about the composition and production of a compound is an asset that is very much worth protecting. Discretion therefore is a matter of principle for us.

Funded projects

Development of a bio-based flame retardant for textile aviation applications

As part of a funded research project, Weserland GmbH is developing an innovative flame retardant based on renewable raw materials such as starch or lignin. The goal is to provide sustainable flame-retardant treatment for textile floor coverings in aircraft while meeting the highest safety standards (e.g., FAR/JAR/CS 25.853).

In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research (WKI), the project aims to develop sustainable formulations that offer alternatives to today’s mostly environmentally questionable flame retardants. The project will thus contribute to reducing the use of imported raw materials, lowering CO₂ emissions, and fostering innovation in Lower Saxony.
